Hole 12 | "Monument"

Par 4 | 447 Yards

The monument on the hill above the green commemorates the lost airmen stationed at Turnberry during the world wars. A brave tee shot is required down the left side of the fairway and players will have to flirt with the fairway bunkers in order to gain the best view of the green for the approach shot. The green is bigger than it appears and the rise in elevation may require players to hit an extra club in order to find the putting surface successfully.

Perfect Play

012 Ailsa
This tough par 4, now back into the prevailing wind, offers up a challenging tee shot. Three deep fairway bunkers left, one bunker right and deep rough on both sides of the fairway mean that accuracy is required with your driver off this tee. It is important when playing your approach shot to the 12th green that you have enough club as the green slopes up from the front and you can be faced with a difficult up and down from the approach to this green. A bunker short right and short left wait for any wayward approach shots. Once on the green you will notice the slopes both on the left and right edge of this green and also at the back of the putting surface. A two putt par 4 is always acceptable at the 12th of The Ailsa.
