Hole 6 | "Tappie Toorie"
Par 3 | 231 Yards
This long par 3 is one of the more difficult holes on The Ailsa. The key to playing this hole is club selection, you must land the ball on this elevated green. The prevailing wind helps on the 6th but beware because any tee shot landing short of the green will roll back down the steep slope and is in danger of finding the most severe pot bunker on the golf course. Three other smaller bunkers lie to the left of the putting surface. Once on the putting surface it slopes quite severely from back to front and from right to left. A two putt par at the 6th is always a great score particularly from above the hole.
How to Play "Pot Bunkers"
Avoiding Turnberry's multitude of pot bunkers is the key to a good score on both The Ailsa and The Kintyre. If however you do find yourself in one of the monumental bunkers, here's how to play it!
